Terms

Terms & conditions.

These terms govern waste clearance work carried out by Hackney Rubbish Removals for customers in Hackney and the surrounding area. They apply alongside the written quote for your job; where the two differ, the quote governs the specifics of that job.

Quotes

A quote is based on what you have described to us — the volume, the floor it is on, the access, and the type of waste. It is a price rather than an estimate, and we hold to it provided the job is as described. Where what we find differs materially from what was described, we will tell you the revised price before loading anything and you are free to decline.

Access and parking

You are responsible for telling us about access restrictions you know of: permit-controlled streets, gated entrances, height or width limits, lifts that do not take furniture, and any requirement to notify a caretaker or managing agent. Where a parking suspension or dispensation is needed we will arrange it where we can, and the cost of it forms part of the quote.

What we cannot take

We are not licensed for hazardous waste. We cannot remove asbestos or materials suspected of containing it, clinical or medical waste, chemicals, fuels, gas cylinders, paint in bulk, tyres in commercial quantities, or unidentified liquids. If any of it is found on site we will stop, tell you what we have found, and help you identify an appropriately licensed contractor. Nothing in that category will be loaded.

What is being cleared

You confirm that you own the items to be removed, or have the authority of the owner to have them removed. Please check the load before we leave: we cannot recover an item once it has entered the waste stream, and we are not liable for items removed on your instruction that you later wish you had kept. If anything must stay, point it out or set it aside before we begin.

Waste documentation

We transfer waste in accordance with our duties as a registered waste carrier and keep waste transfer records, which we will provide on request. Where you are a business, keeping those records forms part of your own duty of care.

Damage and liability

We take reasonable care of floors, walls, stairs and communal areas, and we protect the carry route where it is sensible to do so. Report any damage to us before we leave site, or as soon as you discover it, so that we can see it and put it right. We are not liable for damage arising from a defect in the property itself, from an access route you have told us to use against our advice, or from items you have packed or stacked in a way that could not be moved safely.

Cancellation

Let us know as early as you can if a booking has to change. Where we have already incurred a cost on your behalf — a parking suspension, for example — that cost remains payable. We will not charge a cancellation fee for a job cancelled before we have incurred anything.

Payment

Payment is due on completion unless we have agreed account terms with you in writing. Invoices issued on account terms are payable within thirty days of the invoice date. Overdue accounts may attract interest and reasonable recovery costs at the statutory rate.

Complaints

Email hello@hackneyrubbishremovals.com with the address and date of the job and we will look into it. We would rather fix a problem than argue about it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
