Garden waste clearance in Hackney
Green waste, hedge cuttings, turf, soil, decking and the shed that finally gave up. Composted or recycled where it can be.
Garden clearance in Hackney has a particular problem: the garden is almost always behind the house, and the van is almost always in front of it. Everything comes through the hallway or over a wall.
What we clear
- Green waste — hedge cuttings, prunings, leaves, grass
- Turf, soil and subsoil from a re-landscaped garden
- Decking, fence panels, trellis and sleepers
- Sheds and summer houses, dismantled and taken away
- Pots, paving, rubble and hardcore from a garden rebuild
Green waste goes somewhere different
Clean green waste can be composted, which is both cheaper and better than sending it to general waste — but only while it is still clean. Once hedge cuttings have been mixed with the old fence panels and a bag of rubble, the whole load is contaminated and gets treated as mixed waste. So we keep green separate on the van from the start.
Soil, rubble and weight
Soil and hardcore are heavy rather than bulky, and a small volume of either can reach a vehicle's weight limit long before it fills it. That is a legal limit rather than a preference, so a garden rebuild sometimes means more than one load. We will say so at quote stage.
Access through the house
Where there is no side return, garden waste is carried through the property. Floors get covered and the route is kept clean — a garden clearance that leaves a trail of soil down a hallway has not been finished properly.
Garden waste clearance — the usual questions
Do you take soil and rubble?
Yes, with the caveat that both are heavy — a small amount can hit a vehicle's weight limit, which sometimes means a second load.
Can you dismantle a shed?
Yes, including the base if it is timber. Concrete bases are a different job and we will tell you honestly what is involved.
Is green waste composted?
Where it is clean, yes. Mixed with timber, plastic or rubble it has to be handled as mixed waste, so we keep it separate on the van.
Do you need access through the house?
Only where there is no side return or rear gate. Where we do, floors are covered and the route is left clean.
Can you do it while I am at work?
Where we can get access and there is somewhere legal to stand, yes. It wants arranging in advance rather than on the day.
House clearance
Whole houses and single rooms cleared — end-of-tenancy, probate, downsizing, or years of accumulated stuff in a back bedroom.
Flat & estate clearance
Upper-floor flats, walk-ups and estate blocks, carried down by hand where there is no lift and nowhere to park.
Bulky waste collection
Single large items or a handful of them — sofas, mattresses, wardrobes — collected when you do not want to wait for a council slot.
Office & commercial clearance
Studios, shops, offices and workshop units stripped out — desks, chairs, racking, partitioning and old IT.
Tell us what needs clearing.
What it is, which floor it is on, and where a van can stand. That is enough for a proper quote — and the quote is what you pay, not a starting point.
