Index 01 — Hackney waste clearance E5 / E8 / E9 / N1 / N16 / E2

Cleared,
no fuss.

Rubbish, junk and waste taken out of homes, flats, gardens, offices and building sites across Hackney. We load it by hand, sweep up after ourselves, and take it somewhere it will actually be sorted. One job, one crew, one price agreed before we start.

01

Household

Furniture, white goods, bags, boxes, the lot

02

Garden

Green waste, turf, soil, timber, old sheds

03

Commercial

Office strip-outs, shop fit-outs, studio clear-outs

04

Construction

Rubble, plasterboard, packaging, site debris

Manifesto 02

Most rubbish is not rubbish. It is wood, metal, cardboard and furniture that someone gave up on sorting.

A skip is one container. Everything that goes in it gets treated the same way, which usually means the worst way. We work the other end of that problem — separating on the van as we load, so timber goes with timber, metal goes with metal, and the electricals go where the regulations say they have to.

It is slower than tipping a house into a container. It is also the difference between a clearance you can account for and one you cannot. We keep the transfer notes, and you can have a copy — particularly worth having if you are a landlord or running a site.

What we clear in Hackney

If it needs taking away and it is not hazardous, it is probably on this list. One item or a whole house, a back garden or a shop fit-out — the job is the same shape either way. We look at it, agree a figure, load it, and sweep the space before we go.

What makes a Hackney job different

Terraced streets with nowhere to stop

London Fields, Dalston and the streets off Mare Street are permit-controlled end to end. A tipper cannot legally sit outside most of them for long, so we either arrange a bay or work from the nearest legal point and barrow it. We check the street before quoting rather than turning up and improvising.

Upper floors, no lift

A huge share of Hackney clearance is carried down. Converted houses in Clapton split into three flats, walk-ups above shops on Kingsland High Street, estate blocks where the lift is too small for a sofa. That is hand-balling, and it is the single biggest thing that changes a quote.

Warehouse conversions and studios

Hackney Wick and the Haggerston side bring a different job entirely — studio clear-outs, workshop waste, part-commercial and part-domestic in the same unit. It needs separating properly because some of it is trade waste and has to be documented as such.

Conservation streets and shared alleys

Stoke Newington Church Street and the surrounding terraces have rear alleys that are the only practical access. Half of them are gated, and some are too narrow for anything but a barrow. Worth telling us which applies to you.

Built in 04
01

Loaded by hand

No skip on your street, no permit to apply for, no neighbours filling it overnight. We carry it out, which also means we can take what is upstairs and leave what is staying.

02

Sorted as we load

Timber, metal, cardboard, electricals and general waste go on separately. Sorting on the van is the only point where separating is still cheap — once it is mixed, it stays mixed.

03

Documented properly

Waste transfer notes kept and copied to you on request. If you are a landlord, an agent or running a site, that paperwork is the part that matters when somebody asks.

Where we work, and what each part of it is like

Hackney is not one clearance problem. A Stoke Newington family house with a side return and a Dalston walk-up above a shop need different crews, different timings and a different answer about where the van goes.

01 E8 / E9

Hackney Central

Mare Street, the Narrow Way and the terraces running off them — busy, bus-heavy, and tight for a tipper mid-morning.

02 E8

Dalston

Flats above shops on Kingsland High Street, back-garden studios, and a lot of end-of-tenancy work.

03 N16

Stoke Newington

Church Street conservation terraces and larger family houses — loft, cellar and garden clear-outs.

04 E9

Homerton

Estate blocks and newer developments around the hospital, plus terraced streets towards the Marshes.

05 E8

London Fields

Victorian terraces, basement conversions, and narrow streets where a permit bay is usually the only option.

06 E5

Lower & Upper Clapton

Big converted houses split into flats, long back gardens, and the odd cellar nobody has opened in years.

07 N1 / E2

Hoxton & Haggerston

Studios, small offices and warehouse conversions — commercial strip-outs as often as household clearances.

08 N16

Shacklewell & Stamford Hill edge

Dense terraced streets and large family homes, with loading that has to be worked around parked cars.

09 E9

Hackney Wick

Warehouse units, artist studios and new-build blocks — studio clear-outs and builders' waste in equal measure.

Questions 06

Before you get in touch

Do you clear from upper floors with no lift?

Constantly — it is most of Hackney. Everything is carried down by hand, which is why we ask which floor you are on before we ask how much there is.

Is this cheaper than a skip?

For most household jobs, yes, and there is no permit to apply for and nothing sitting on the street collecting other people’s waste overnight. For a long building project a skip sometimes still wins, and we will say so.

Where does the waste actually go?

Sorted on the van as we load — timber, metal, cardboard and electricals separately — then to the right route for each. Waste transfer documentation is kept and copied to you on request.

Do I need to be there?

Not if we can get access and there is somewhere legal to stand. Plenty of jobs are done on keys with an agent or a neighbour, agreed in advance.

Is the quote the price?

Yes. It is agreed before we start, and it only changes if what is being cleared changes — not because the job took longer than we guessed.

Next 07

Tell us what needs clearing.

What it is, which floor it is on, and where a van can stand. That is enough for a proper quote — and the quote is what you pay, not a starting point.
